Appearance#

Customize how the floating bar looks. All changes apply instantly.

Open ExtraBar → Settings (⚙) → Appearance to access these settings.

Bar size#

Control the size of icons and the bar height. Three sizes are available:

Small — 20pt icons. Compact and minimal. This is the default.
Medium — 28pt icons. Balanced visibility.
Large — 36pt icons. Maximum visibility.

Bar size applies to the Floating Bar and the Notch bar (the Size control under Position → Notch changes the same setting), and it also scales the icons inside a Collapse into a Menu menu. In native Menu Bar Mode, icons stay system-sized.

Icon labels#

Enable Show Labels on Hover to display a label when you hover over an item or navigate to it with the keyboard. Useful when you're not sure what an icon represents.

Corner roundness#

Adjust how rounded the bar corners are using the slider (0–14pt) or the quick presets:

Square — 0pt, sharp corners
Soft — 5pt, the default
Round — 8pt, more rounded
Pill — 14pt, fully rounded

Background style#

Choose how the bar background is rendered. Five styles are available:

Default — Standard frosted glass effect using macOS materials. This is the default.
Tinted Glass — Glass effect with a color tint overlay. Pick a tint from the presets (Blue, Purple, Pink, Red, Orange, Green, Teal) or use a custom color.
Solid Color — Opaque background with a solid color. Presets include Charcoal, Obsidian, Graphite, Slate, Navy, Forest, and Wine — or pick a custom color.
Transparent — No background at all. Only your app icons are visible.
Liquid Glass — Real macOS glass. On macOS 26 and later, the bar uses the same glass as the macOS Dock and refracts whatever is behind it. Earlier macOS versions show a frosted glass look instead.

Glass look#

When Liquid Glass is selected on macOS 26 or later, a Glass Look picker appears:

Regular — Softly frosted, easy to read over any wallpaper (default)
Clear — Fully see-through, like the macOS Dock

A tint color still applies over the glass. Native glass draws its own rim, so the bar has no border unless you pick one under Border. If Reduce Transparency is on in macOS Accessibility settings, the bar shows a solid background instead of glass.

Background and tint colors#

When using Solid Color, a Background Color section appears; with Tinted Glass or Liquid Glass it is called Tint Color. Pick a color from the built-in presets, choose Default to clear it, or use the custom color picker for any color you want.

Border#

Add a border around the bar. Presets include:

Default — No custom border color
Subtle, Light, Medium — White borders at varying opacity
Accent — Blue tinted border
Gold — Yellow tinted border
Rose — Pink tinted border
None — No border

A custom color picker is also available.

Reset#

Use the Reset button to restore the background style, background and border colors, corner roundness, and glass look to their defaults. Bar size and icon labels are left as they are.

Dock icon#

Under Settings (⚙) → General → Dock Icon, choose the app icon style. Five variants are available:

Standard
Black & White
White & Black
Dark Purple
Light Purple

Under Settings (⚙) → General → Menu Bar Icon, choose the icon that appears in the macOS menu bar. Six variants are available:

Default (adaptive — automatically tints to match a light or dark menu bar)
Outline Black
Outline White
Outline Purple
Fill Black
Fill White
