DockFlow Integration#
ExtraBar can connect to DockFlow and place a DockFlow widget in your bar. The widget shows DockFlow presets, identifies the active preset, and switches presets when the connection includes permission to apply them.
The connection uses the local Talk integration, which is currently in beta. DockFlow shares its presets with ExtraBar; connecting does not give DockFlow any control over your bar.
Connect DockFlow#
ExtraBar finds DockFlow on your Mac automatically. No pairing codes are needed.
- Install DockFlow 1.81 or later and open it once
- In ExtraBar, open Settings (⚙) → Talk Integrations
- Choose DockFlow in the Integration Library
- Review what ExtraBar can do, then click Connect
If DockFlow is missing, too old, or cannot be verified, the library row explains what to do and offers a Get DockFlow or Update DockFlow link. Older DockFlow versions keep working with access that was saved before.
Permissions#
Before connecting, choose what DockFlow shares with ExtraBar:
- Read your presets and active preset — Always required
- Switch presets — Lets the widget apply a preset
- Receive live preset updates — Keeps the widget current when presets change in DockFlow
A read-only connection still lists presets, but switching is disabled. To adjust a saved connection, choose Manage → Change Permissions, then Save Permissions. Connections saved by an older DockFlow version cannot be changed in place: remove ExtraBar's access in DockFlow, choose Forget Connection, then connect again.
Add the widget#
- Open ExtraBar and Manage a preset
- Click + to add an item
- Choose DockFlow Widget
- Pick a name and a Logo style (Color, Monochrome, Dark, White, Simple Black, or Simple White), or choose your own icon
- Decide whether ExtraBar should Ask before switching presets (off by default) and Show app counts and details
The Monochrome logo follows your menu bar's light or dark appearance. The widget editor also shows the connection status with a Connect or Manage button, so you can set up DockFlow without leaving the editor. Opening the widget can launch DockFlow when needed. ExtraBar sends one apply request for each click and does not silently retry a preset change.
Manage or remove access#
- Disconnect ends the current session but keeps the saved access for the next connection.
- Reload Access reloads the saved access when ExtraBar reports it needs attention.
- Forget Connection removes ExtraBar's saved access only.
- To revoke access completely, also remove ExtraBar under Apps with access in DockFlow's Talk Integrations settings.
Saved access is stored in the macOS Keychain. Talk connections stay on your Mac and use encryption.
