Notch Mode#
Notch Mode anchors your bar inside the display notch area at the top of the screen. On MacBooks with a notch, the bar splits around the physical notch. On external displays, ExtraBar creates a centered "virtual notch" area instead.
Setting up Notch Mode#
- Open ExtraBar → Settings (⚙) → Position
- Select the Notch card
You can also toggle it from the ExtraBar app menu with Enable Notch Mode (⌘N).
Options#
When Notch is selected, these options appear below the position picker:
- Background — Choose Solid or Floating for the notch bar background.
- Size — Small, Medium, or Large.
- Auto-hide — The bar hides automatically and reappears when you hover the notch area. Auto-hide is exclusive to Notch Mode.
- Show on All Screens — Display the notch bar on every connected monitor.
- Display picker — When "Show on All Screens" is off, choose which screen the bar appears on.
Keyboard navigation#
Keyboard navigation works in Notch Mode just like in the other positions — see Keyboard Navigation.
