Introduction#
What is ExtraBar?#
ExtraBar is a macOS app that lets you add apps into your menu bar, and customize their menu using custom actions and deep links.
Instead of opening an app and navigating through menus, you click once and go directly where you need.
Who is it for?#
- Designers — Jump to specific Figma projects, files or nodes.
- Developers — Open specific project in your IDE of choice.
- Managers — Start new Zoom calls or jump into meetings or jump to specific Slack channels.
- Power users — Manage Keyboard Maestro macros and Raycast operations, run Shortcuts or Scripts directly from your menu bar.
How is it different from Bartender or Ice?#
Applications like Bartender or Ice help you hide menu bar icons.
ExtraBar helps you customize actions — it's about creating a personalized menu bar, not icon management.
- Four display modes — Use the macOS menu bar, the display notch, a Floating Bar, or the searchable Launcher — with Collapse Mode to fold the bar into a single icon or group everything under one menu
- Your look — Real Liquid Glass on macOS 26, and 38 built-in Launcher themes you can customize and share
- Zero permissions required — Accessibility is optional for better keyboard navigation
- Works offline — Internet needed only for license activation, update checks, and Shiori bookmark sync
- Private — No analytics, no telemetry, your config stays local
- Portable — Export/import to sync across Macs
- Connected workflows — Let a supported AI assistant configure ExtraBar locally, or connect DockFlow automatically and switch Dock presets from an ExtraBar widget
