License#

Open ExtraBar → Settings (⚙) → License to activate ExtraBar or review the credential already saved on this Mac.

Activate#

The activation screen has two tabs: License Key and Team. With License Key, choose where your key was issued — Keyper or Keyco — paste the key, and click Activate License. With Team, enter your team email and click Validate Team Access.

After activation, the License page shows License Status, License Details, and the saved credential with the key masked.

Recover a license key#

If you no longer have your license key, use the ExtraBar license recovery page.

License details#

Depending on the license provider, ExtraBar can show:

  • Lifetime or date-limited app access
  • Lifetime updates or the date through which updates are included, plus the latest release you can install
  • Device usage and limits, including which activations belong to this Mac
  • Whether the current Mac is activated
  • Team organization, plan, seat, and access information

Use Refresh License to retrieve current status and update entitlement. Remove Key (Keyper) or Remove License (Keyco and Team) removes the saved credential from this Mac; a Keyper key is not deactivated on the license server, so you can activate it again later.

Installed-version access#

A valid permanent license keeps access to eligible ExtraBar versions. If the installed build falls outside its included update window, ExtraBar explains the issue before normal startup and offers the server-authorized recovery choices:

  • Download ExtraBar — Install the latest eligible ExtraBar version
  • Renew Updates — Extend the update period
  • Change Key — Switch to another license key; it is verified before ExtraBar checks whether this version is included
  • Refresh License — Re-check the license after its release record changes
  • Quit ExtraBar

If ExtraBar cannot reach the licensing service after an update or while offline, it does not ask you to renew. It shows Unable to verify this ExtraBar version instead; check your internet connection and choose Refresh License. Copy Diagnostics copies technical details for support without your license key or device identifiers.

Removing a license or changing a key does not delete your ExtraBar presets and configuration.
